Luiza (Löiz) started her tattoo journey 6 years ago as an apprentice in Curitiba in Brazil. Originally studying and training in architecture, Luiza was brought to the world of tattooing by her friends and family who would ask her to design their tattoos. She has since gone on to create her own unique style, drawing inspiration mainly from her passion for oriental arts. For Luiza, art is her meditation. “It allows me to focus and shut out the world around me. When I tattoo, it is like freedom from myself and the world.”

Where are you from? Curitiba, Brazil

How long have you been tattooing? 7 years

What inspired you to become a tattoo artist? I’ve always wanted to work with drawing and illustrations, and after doing a few tattoo designs for friends and family, I thought I’d give it a try to tattoo my designs myself.

What is your background? Architecture and Urban Planning

What style do you specialise in? A mix of illustration with black and red and oriental.

What do you like to do in your spare time? Read books and play video games

What’s your favourite kind of tattoo to do? Anything that involves Japanese folklore, geek and sci-fi illustration are my favourite ones

What’s the coolest tattoo you’ve done? Hard to choose. I've got some big sleeves going on that I have so much fun working with. My original flash piece designs are also one of my favourites to do!
