Questions & Answers

Questions & answers

Where are you from? I am from Pereira, Colombia.
How long have you been tattooing? I have been tattooing professionally for 8 years, backed by over 12 years of experience in the visual arts.
What inspired you to become a tattoo artist? My inspiration stems from artistic practices and the exploration of diverse formats, questioning the relationship between time and memory in tension with the body. When I approached tattooing, I recognised its power not just as a technique, but as a medium for capturing memories and symbols. I am fascinated by the ability to perpetuate these symbolic forces, empowering each 'collector' through a work that intervenes in a body that becomes a living, tangible archive of its own history.
What is your background? I hold a Bachelor of Fine Arts and am currently a Master’s Degree Candidate in Aesthetics and Creation at the Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira, a program I am pursuing through an artistic merit scholarship. My practice has been consolidated through a constant search to integrate fine arts methodologies onto the body, exploring the tensions between time and memory. I understand tattooing as a language that transcends the academic realm; it is a space where I apply the aesthetic rigour and critical gaze of my training to respond to a symbolic vision that only tattooing, as a medium and in its entirety, allows to manifest. I have had the welcome opportunity to feature my work in various national and international exhibitions across multiple forms.
What style do you specialise in? I specialise in Black and Grey Realism, Colour, Fine Line, and Whip Shading. Additionally, I explore other styles such as American Traditional and Blackwork, freehand, among others.
What do you like to do in your spare time? When I’m not tattooing, my focus remains on constant creation. I deeply enjoy drawing and oil painting, specifically working alla prima. I am also passionate about reading and ongoing research. I balance this with sonic exploration through DJing, always seeking to immerse myself in my surroundings to find new sources of inspiration in visual stimuli and the essence of the world around me.
What’s your favourite kind of tattoo to do? Any type of tattoo is my favourite to create, as my work seeks to establish an intimate connection between the client and their idea. I position myself as a mediator, drawing inspiration from the symbolic power of each collector's life experience. My goal is to create a kind of 'affective collage' where the dreamlike intertwines with reality and fantasy—worlds that exist between nature and the subconscious. I strive to give my best to distil these emotional impulses and transform them into an imperishable mark.
What’s the coolest tattoo you’ve done? Rather than a specific design, I consider my most valuable experiences to be those where there is a total sense of trust from the client. For me, the most rewarding moment is the end of the session: when the person recognises themselves in the work and understands that the piece is not just ink, but a living archive of their own story. This experience of the body, where the tattoo becomes a talisman, is what makes every project the most important one to me.
